Types of Treatment
Balance, Dizziness and Fall Prevention
Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. TOSPT has been certified by the American Institute of Balance as part of its Worldwide Network of Vestibular and Equilibrium Specialists.
At TOSPT, we ensure that Certified Vestibular Specialists (CVS) are on-staff so patients with balance, dizziness or falling issues can be seen by a specialist in the field. We have expertise in Epley maneuvers and beyond, guiding patients from the clearance of acute vertigo, all the way through vestibular rehabilitation therapy.
Our Balance Retraining Therapy is specially designed and proven to help patients reduce their risk of falling, and we offer a wide array of other therapy programs to assist patients suffering from balance and dizziness issues.
Fall Prevention Program
Preventing falls before they happen is the key to ensuring good physical health for older Americans.
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year, resulting in over 2.8 million emergency room visits and 800,000 hospitalizations annually. Facing such staggering numbers, it's important for patients to be proactive in their health and work to prevent falls before they happen.
To help our patients better combat the dangers of falling, we've developed a six-week fall prevention program to be utilized in conjunction with their normal course of physical therapy treatment. This individualized program is performed by a certified vestibular/balance physical therapist and will decrease your risk of falling and help you gain confidence in your home and community.
During the Fall Prevention Program, you will learn:
- Why you fall
- How to make your home safe from falls
- What to do if you fall and how to get up
- An individualized home exercise plan for balance improvement
Our Fall Prevention Program is covered by most insurance - if you would like more information about the program, please call us at (850) 877-8855!
Here's What Our Patients Are Saying
I found that the staff of TOSPT are supportive, knowledgeable, friendly, and really care how one is progressing.
After my 2nd shoulder surgery, I was lucky enough to work with TOSPT. I came back stronger than ever before and pursue my dream of competing with Team U.S.A Bobsled.
Not only did you guys make my foot feel better, but you warmed my heart and encouraged me during a very difficult time in my life.
My experience at TOSPT was awesome! Before PT, I was not able to walk without an ankle brace or walk in my heels. Now I’m able to do both thanks to Julian and the staff.
